You Are Still Becoming
Updated: Aug 30

Sometimes loss changes you so deeply that you look in the mirror and wonder where the old version of you went.
I know that feeling.
There are experiences that divide your life into a before and an after.
And sometimes we spend so much time trying to get back to the woman we were before that we don't notice the woman who is slowly emerging from everything we've survived.
Maybe you're not supposed to go back.
Maybe you're becoming.
Becoming softer in some places.
Stronger in others.
More intentional about who gets access to you.
More appreciative of the little things.
More honest about what hurts.
More willing to rest.
More dependent on God.
And maybe becoming doesn't always look beautiful while it's happening.
Sometimes it looks like starting over.
Sometimes it looks like setting boundaries.
Sometimes it looks like crying in the shower and getting dressed anyway.
Sometimes it looks like admitting, I'm not okay today.
And sometimes it simply looks like waking up and trying again.
Please don't underestimate those moments.
Growth isn't always loud.
Healing isn't always something other people can see.
And becoming doesn't happen overnight.
Give yourself permission to meet this version of yourself without constantly comparing her to who you used to be.
She has been through things.
She has learned things.
She has survived things.
And she deserves your compassion too.
There are still beautiful parts of your story waiting to be written.
There are still prayers you'll see answered.
There are still mornings when you'll wake up and realize the thing that once consumed your thoughts doesn't hurt quite as much anymore.
Keep becoming.
Slowly.
Softly.
Faithfully.
Your story didn't end with what you lost. There is still so much life left for you to live. 🦋🤍
With love,
Alisha
